Access to Evidence-based Research for Unaffiliated Healthcare Providers and Policymakers: a Canada-wide Environmental Scan with Consideration of Options for Nova Scotia
    (2021-03) Barrett, Ann; Hancock, Kristy
This environmental scan identifies the type of health information models implemented across Canada that allow unaffiliated healthcare providers and provincial health ministry employees to access published evidence-based health research. The audience for this report is primarily health information decision-makers within Nova Scotia, but the scan and discussion may be of interest to a wider group of information professionals who are struggling with similar issues in other jurisdictions.

    W. K. Kellogg Health Sciences Library Space Assessment - 2017
    (2017-06) Barrett, Ann
The W. K. Kellogg Health Sciences Library consists of two distinct recently renovated/created academic library spaces: the Kellogg Library in the Tupper Building, which opened after a complete renovation in January 2017, and the Kellogg Library Learning Commons (Kellogg LC), which opened in the new Collaborative Health Education Building (CHEB) in January 2016. The Kellogg Library (Tupper) provides a quiet study room with computer workstations, reserve readings, the print collection (monograph and journal) in compact shelving, and most of the staff spaces. The Kellogg Library LC in CHEB is the larger of the two spaces and provides a wide range of types of study and work spaces. Both spaces serve students from the faculties of Dentistry, Health Professions, and Medicine. Students from all campuses are welcome to make use of the space, and many do. This assessment seeks to determine the perceptions and satisfaction of students with the new spaces as they use them on a regular basis. The responses will inform adjustments and changes to the spaces in the coming year.
