dc.description.abstractMuch of the discussion about human-AI teams has focused on artificial intelligence technologies; however, recent works have focused on the role of humans. Situation awareness has been used to describe awareness about hu-man environmental factors (e.g., mental workload) on task performance and has recently been applied to new discussions about performance in human-AI teams. These discussions have neglected many cognitive factors that can now be incorporated into human-AI team dynamics, thanks to advances in cognitive neuroscience and technology. In this chapter, I will describe how these advances enable situation awareness of cognition that opens new possibilities for human-AI collaboration.
